Wii Music

Wii Music
When it comes to music and rhythm games, Wii Music stands in a class of its own. Unlike other music games, which penalize players if they don’t play perfectly, Wii Music is a musical playground where there are no mistakes. Here anyone can pick up and master the huge array of instruments available, through simple motions like strumming and drumming. Musicians in your band jam by simply playing their instruments to the beat of a song or by improvising to their heart’s content. Play faster. Play slower. Skip a beat, or throw in 10 more. No matter what you do, Wii Music automatically transforms your improv stylings into great music.

Gameplay: Getting Your Band Together
In Wii Music every band has six members: Two play the main melody, two cover the percussion beats, one covers the bass groove and one uses the song’s chords to support the melody. As a band, the six members often play their special parts at the same time, though each player can jam however and whenever he or she wants. Play all at once. Take turns in the spotlight. Pair up in creative ways throughout the song. You can bring the band to life by yourself, playing one part at a time-or with up to four players. See game mode below:

  • Solo Play: When you play by yourself, you can add one part at a time to arrange the whole song exactly how you want. The Tutes are on hand to back up your band in any parts you need filled.
  • Multiplayer: When in a band with friends, up to four people can be band members.
  • Wii Friends: Using WiiConnect24, you can send your jam videos to Wii Friends who own Wii Music. They can then watch your performance, modify it to their liking and send their jam videos back to you.

Tutes: Your Own Private Back-up Band
When not playing with friends, you can invite jam masters known as Tutes to play with you. They’ll join a session playing an instrument that each thinks is strong for a specific song. You can simply enjoy the musical camaraderie, or pick up instrument tips by watching them jam. If you choose to watch, the Tutes will show you lots of techniques for many of these instruments, then ask you to follow their examples. They’ll start with the simplest techniques, then as you master each one, show you even more nuanced ones.

Key Game Features:

  • Easy to Play Improv Jams – All members of your band jam by simply playing their instruments to the beat of a song or by improvising to their heart’s content. Play faster. Play slower. Skip a beat, or throw in 10 more. Wii Music challenges you to transform your improv stylings into great music. There are no mistakes and no game scores-just playing for the pure joy of playing.
  • Wii Controls Immerse You in the Music – You can play most of the 60-plus instruments in Wii Music using simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar. Drum to play jazz drums, congas and snare drums. Hammer away to play piano, vibraphone and marimba. Unlike most music games, Wii Music doesn’t make you use many complex buttons. You only need to imitate playing the instrument.
  • Virtually Endless Ways to Make Music – You choose the song and instruments and decide whether to blaze through a rock take on classical songs, put a jazzy spin on folk tunes or transform Nintendo classics like the Super Mario Bros. theme into Latin-flavored numbers. The song list is only a takeoff point-it’s how you improvise with the songs that matters.
  • Share Your Band Jams With Friends – They’ll see your Mii band members, your players’ improv styles and your instrument selections. They can watch your recordings, or play over parts of your song, then send their modified recording back to you. So you can send improv jams back and forth over WiiConnect24, changing them again and again.

60+ Instruments
You can play most of the 60-plus instruments in Wii Music using simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar. Drum to play jazz drums, congas and marching drums. Hammer away to play piano, vibraphone and marimba. Unlike most music games, Wii Music doesn’t make you use complex buttons. You only need to imitate playing the instrument. Wii Music offers virtually endless ways to make music.

Fun Beyond the Jam
Designed with classic Wii gameplay in mind, Wii Music includes many other modes and play options besides the main band jams, including several musical games and an enhanced video playback mode for recorded jams.

  • Videos Mode: Watch your jam videos in an enhanced playback mode that brings your jams to life with fun environmental effects and dramatic camera angles.
  • Mii Maestro: By waving the Wii Remote like a conductor’s baton in this mini-game, you’ll lead a Mii orchestra through orchestrated songs, such as The Legend of Zelda theme. Make them play quickly, slowly, strongly or gently-the orchestra is at your command.
  • Handbell Harmony: In this musical mini-game, you’ll play in a handbell ensemble by swinging your Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Everyone on the team has a job to do: play one of your notes only when the tune demands it.
  • Pitch Perfect: How good is your musical ear? In this whimsical musical quiz, you’ll have to solve challenges, like putting note-playing Miis in order from lowest to highest pitch.
  • Drum Mode: In the one mode that uses the Wii Balance Board accessory (sold with Wii Fit), you can feel what it’s like to play a real-life drum set. You’ll use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as drumsticks, and place both feet on the Wii Balance Board-which work as virtual pedals for the bass drum and hi-hat cymbal.

Customer Review: Just have fun and feel like a conductor
I felt a bit like Maris Janssons yesterday.

He is the Latvian conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.

Gramaphone declared it the best Orchestra in the world this week.

So this was a good thing.

I was waving my Wiimote.

And the orchestra played Carmen, the great Opera by Georges Bizet

My wife Celine played the Violin. Osama some horn and Zardoz did a bit of percussion.

I got 68 points, and was very happy.

Classical music sounds quite good in the Midi Nintendo chose.

Pop songs less.

But Midi makes the game flexible, allowing for all those instruments.

I say game, but i’m not sure of it.

It has three mini games: the aforementioned Orchestra, a standard rhytm game with cowbells, albeit with few songs and a Wiiplay-like quiz, making you choose Mii’s with the right pitch, or putting them in the right order, which makes good fun.

But the main thing is just jamming.

While real artists frown upon Guitar Hero,

You have far more control there over a single instrument than in Wii Music.

The variety here, makes it fun though, and also the arrangements to make different songs of the same basics,

And playing all the different parts in a row.

One person on the flute, and one on the drums is excellent fun.

In a very different way than Rockband.

The drums by themselves are special too, as you use the Wii Fit boards as foot pedals.

Other good things: The first Wii game i have seem without a seperate friends list

Which i noticed when one of the world famous Pickford Bros appeared in my list.

Still, you can only send them videos. And then they can join in your video, which gives a very” making music together” feeling

Mii integration is as allways wonderful, Having a band full of people you know makes it a bit more fun

Bad things: You’re not that much in control, I would love more Guitar Hero like stuff.

The music sounds rather bad, and the selection is very limited.

Surely Nintendo, with all that DS money, you could have licensed some songs.

A conclusion is hard to draw, and probably depending on your expectations.

If you’re expecting Guitar Hero with Mii’s you are going to be dissapointed.

If you’re want to have some fun with friends making a song together, and actually learning a few things about music too, you’re going to like it.

If you always wanted to direct a big orchestra like me, you’re going to like it for some swallow fun.

Ouendan remains the best rhytm game in history, and Guitar Hero/Rockband do the rockstar thing miles better, but I’ve got a few nights of fun of it, and felt more that i was doing something with music than i did with the aforementioned games. I am happy that i overcame my doubts and spent 30 pounds on it. It’s does what it sets do do rather well, and if you can appreciate that subniche of music games, i can recommend it. Some of you are going to hate it though.

Customer Review: Rent it first!
Bottom line – everyone has different likes and dislikes. We were all set to buy this one, considering the other very solid games coming from the Nintendo line, but opted to rent it first. The 4 dollars spent renting was worth it. The game was fun for about 30 minutes, then subsided from there.

Parents with little ones (4 – 7 yrs) will probably find this to be very entertaining for them. Beyond that, it will be very limited for most other audiences (unless someone is completely new to gaming).

For older kids, teens, and most adults, it very quickly becomes mundane and repetitive. The song selection is vast but mostly unfamiliar. The real challenge was how to get this game back to store on the same day.

Wii Nintendo Games – A Revolution In Gaming

The new kid on the block is the Nintendo Wii, with it’s original games controller that really brings something new to the console gaming table. Because of these advances, it’s also ensured the release of some original games that utilise this technology uniquely. This isn’t limited to just new games though – we are also seeing some classic console games brought back into the mix with new features and new ways to play them. New life has been breathed into these highly regarded classics.

Wii Controller – Get Out Of That Armchair

With the advent on Nintendos’ new controller, it finally means gamers have a good reason to get up off that couch and start moving. Yes, we finally have gaming as a medium that also provides physical exercise. Who would have thought it. It may seem far fetched, but there is even whispers of a new game about dieting being released on the system. Who said that gaming leads to lethargy and obesity? Go Full Throttle With Driving Games

Driving games are also packed with action and skill. A small adjustment of the unique Wii controller has an impact on gameplay. It is this kind of advance in console gameplay that will help ensure Wii games keep up with market demand for innovation and originality. The good news is even parents are impressed with the Wii Nintendo games and how the gamer has to interact.

The Best Wii Nintendo Games On The Market

There is already a good range of Wii Nintendo games out on the market. Some of these are tailored specifically to the Nintendo Wii whereas others already existed before and have been revamped to varying degrees. What you can be sure of, though, is that there is something for everyone on this games console.

Many people will be interested in games that utilise the new controller well. One game that springs to mind as a ‘must have’ addition to any Wii gamers collection is Warioware: Smooth Moves. This game contains two hundred mini-games that are easy and quick to pick up and play whilst also helping the new Nintendo Wii gamer learn how to use the remote. This game is fun to play for both adults and younger gamers and is a very popular game on the Wii.

Not all of the Wii games are happy-go-lucky affairs though. There are lots of games that involve one-on-one combat, tactics, gaming skill and intense concentration. You may want to have a look at the Wii sports game which incorporates a number of different sports games and an intriguing fitness test element. One of the most noticeable things about the Nintendo Wii games is you will find people interested in playing games on it that aren’t usually regular gamers or even into video games. Thus far the Nintendo Wii games are first rate and some of the best available on the gaming market on any console.
